Product Description

The number of patients requiring cataract surgery following refractive surgery grows larger each year. This has created a challenge for surgeons, as calculating IOL power for a modified cornea is difficult. True corneal power following RK, ALK, PRK and LASIK is difficult to accurately measure by keratometry or topography. For example, keratometry and simulated keratometry by topography will typically overestimate central corneal power in patients who have undergone keratorefractive surgery. With these concerns in mind, Quantel Medical has developed the new Axis II PR (post refractive) biometer. Based upon the patient’s historical data, doctors can choose from six post-refractive formulas. Additionally six standard IOL formulas are available. The six post-refractive formulas are: Double K/SRK-T, History Derived, Refraction Derived, Shammas, Rosa, and Contact Lens Method. The other six standard formulas are: SRK T, Holladay, Hoffer Q, Haigis, SRK II and Binkhorst II. IOL calculations can be displayed in .25D or .50D increments. With established clinical efficacy equivalent to the laser interferometer, the Axis II PR is intuitive and easy to use. A discrimination feature automatically eliminates optic nerve scans. An onsite inservice and a Prager Immersion Shell are always included.
