| Since its U.S. approval in 1992, ABIOMED's BVS® 5000 has grown to become the most widely used advanced cardiac assist system in the world to support recoverable hearts. It is the only device approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for all patients with potentially reversible heart failure. ABIOMED continues to make advances with the BVS 5000, expanding the patient indications treatable with the device. We recently introduced a new version of the BVS 5000 to serve larger patients. Based on needs that our collaborating surgeons identified, we have also developed new cannulae of varying sizes, some of which can be used with smaller patients. | |
