    Product Description
The PORTERFIELD catheter incorporates six electrodes which are spaced to permit pacing and recording from a single catheter. Positioned in the Right Atrium, the catheter paces the atrium while recording atrial electrograms. The catheter may then be repositioned to the right ventricular apex for atrial recording and ventricular pacing and recording. If indicated, the catheter tip may be repositioned in the right ventricular outflow tract. If follow-up is anticipated, the PORTERFIELD catheter may be positioned from the subclavian and remain in place for subsequent drug assessment while the patient remains ambulatory. In many cases, no high right atrium (HRA) catheter is required because the PORTERFIELD catheter provides information about atrial and ventricular electrical activity. The catheter is placed via the subclavian or femoral vein to test defibrillator function or to define antiarrhythmic drug effect. The Biosense Webster Model D7S-06R-POR-MS is designed for use in small to medium size hearts, while the electrode spacing in the Model D7E-06R-POR-MS is intended to accommodate placement in hearts that are enlarged.
