| Imaging with the Spectral OCT/SLO generates an image of such high resolution that the different layers of the inner retina are clearly seen. Subtle pathologies can be detected sooner and earlier intervention is possible. The dual imaging advantage provides perfectly registered high-resolution OCT and SLO images in real-time . The SLO shows exactly where in the fundus the B-Scan is occurring on-screen during the scan, ensuring a faster, more accurate scan and increasing patient throughput.
With the registration of images being crucial in the ability to accurately measure progression or regression of glaucoma and other diseases, the Spectral OCT SLO is perfectly designed for this task. The Spectral OCT SLO automatically tracks the impact of drug therapy on the lesion size and its internal structure using 3D Topographic Mapping. With linked images, the system corrects for shift and rotation between the topographic maps, and accurately aligns them for precise measurements of true change.
The Microperimetry option provides Visual Function Testing, a complementary diagnostic tool to the OCT/SLO system. Microperimetry provides the ability to assess changes in patient visual function from drug therapy and compare the visual changes to the OCT structural changes in the retina. The clinician can assess exactly where there is a visual function loss in the retina and fovea. The SLO is used to track the retina and patient fixation in real-time to ensure that the stimulus is projected in the right location on the retina. A combined 3D topographic map with microperimetry provides direct correlation between structural changes in the retina and its relationship to visual loss.
