| Today's evolving techniques for vascular surgery, and the accompanying need for patient hemodialysis, require that new, specialized types of graft be developed. Grafts must not only be strong, inert and biocompatible, but also available in varying sizes and configurations for improved vascular access. GORE-TEX® Vascular Graft has long been the prosthetic of choice among vascular surgeons worldwide. Conformable and easy to handle, it is offered in both large and small diameters, as well as thin-wall and rapidly-tapering designs (4-7 mm or 4-6 mm) for cases where arterial steal syndrome is a potential complication. A 6 mm graft featuring external supporting rings in 5 cm centered or 7 cm offset sections enables tight loop configurations and crossing the cubitus. A 4-7 mm tapered graft with 10 or 15 cm of removable rings allows for tailoring or exact placement of the ringed section. Two other offerings in Gore's vascular graft line – GORE-TEX® Stretch Vascular Graft and GORE-TEX® INTERING Vascular Graft – may also be selected based on the surgeon's preference. GORE-TEX® Stretch Vascular Graft is available in various configurations appropriate for angioaccess, and has demonstrated improved patency in the end-stage renal disease patient. GORE-TEX® INTERING Vascular Graft provides kink and compression resistance through integrated radial support. Its patented unibody construction results in the lowest profile, radially-supported graft available. The radial support is concealed within the graft wall, thereby reducing the cross-sectional area by approximately 24% compared to an external | |
