| The Rubicon Filter System is an embolic protection device that safely traps and removes much of the debris that may be dislodged during interventional procedures. The Rubicon Filter System comprises several components. The first is a guidewire-mounted filter, and the second is a capture catheter. Other ancillary components supplied with the system for convenience of use include an introducer, a syringe for flushing the capture catheter, and two torque devices. The filter is mounted on a steerable 0.014" guidewire, which is designed to be compatible with devices delivered with a 0.014" guidewire. The coaxial actuating wire design eliminates the need for a delivery catheter, allowing a stent to be pre-loaded on the filter wire and delivered in a one-step insertion of both devices. The free-floating struts have three radiopaque markers and are designed to provide consistent apposition to tortuous vasculature. The distal tip is highly radiopaque and shapeable. When the procedure is completed, the capture catheter is telescoped over the filter and trapped debris, and then withdrawn. The capture catheter has a large bore sleeve designed to contain the collapsed filter and the debris trapped within it. The actuating device includes graphics that show the clinician the status of the filter throughout the retrieval process. | |
