The 1.5 mm splay of the staple legs ensures progressive impaction of the osteotomy site.
The anti-recoil contours are effective as they are located on the inner surface of the staple legs where pressure is exerted.
The fins increase the contact surface on the often fragile bone cortex, so reducing the risk of secondary loosening.
The offset staples are the only ones to enable a stable assembly when the osteotomies haves "steps".
With some osteotomies, there is no step after reduction, and conventional offset staples are unsuitable as the offset collapses the upper bone cortex and weakens the assembly.
With ORTHOMED S.A., semi-oblique staples, the bridge matches the bone cortex exactly on both sides of the osteotomy.
The semi-oblique staple, cat. n° 36 SOP, is especially suitable for opening osteotomies.

| The design of the osteotomy staples is quite similar to the type "P" ligament fixation staples. The differences are the inner position of the anti recoil contours and the shapes of some implants (offset and semi-oblique staples). There are 3 kinds of staples: 1. Straight staples (the legs are 25 mm high and the staples can have 3 different widths: 20mm, 26 mm and 36 mm), 2. Offset staples (these staples have a step), and 3. Semi-oblique staples (their legs have a 1,5 mm splay, there are two models: 26 and 36 mm wide). | |
