    Product Description
    A nonabsorbable knitted product for use in herniorrhaphy. MERSILENE Polyester Fiber Mesh is a highly flexible and compliant material that affords excellent strength, durability and surgical adaptability, along with maximal porosity for necessary tissue ingrowth. Mersilene Polyester Fiber Mesh is constructed from polyethylene terephthalate, the same material used to make Mersilene Polyester Fiber Suture, Nonabsorbable Surgical Suture, U.S.P. (ETHICON, INC.). MERSILENE Polyester Fiber Mesh affords excellent strength, durability and surgical adaptability, along with maximal porosity for necessary tissue ingrowth. The mesh is approximately 0.010 inches thick and is a highly flexible and compliant material. MERSILENE mesh is knitted by a process which interlinks each fiber junction and which provides for elasticity in both directions. This construction permits the mesh to be cut into any desired shape or size without unraveling. The fiber junctions are not subject to the same work fatigue exhibited by more rigid metallic meshes. This bi-directional elastic property allows adaption to various stressed encountered in the body.
