Bard Composix Kugel Hernia Patch | | | General Information
| Vendor | | Davol, Inc. | | Item | | Bard Composix Kugel Hernia Patch | | Features | | On one side is the Bard Kugel Patch, which is constructed of a double layer of monofilament polypropylene.
On the other side is a barrier of ePTFE.
Monofilament polypropylene stimulates tissue ingrowth and helps reduce the risk of recurrence.
ePTFE barrier minimizes tissue attachment to the prosthesis, while helping to protect against erosion of the mesh into vital organs.
The first self-expanding patch designed to address both sides of ventral hernia repair. | | Material | | Monofilament polypropylene and ePTFE | | Approval | | Worldwide | | Product Number | | Inquire | | Shape | | Sheet | | Thickness | | Inquire | | Sizes | | Inquire | | Absorbable | | Inquire | | Pricing | | Inquire |
| | Product Description | |
| On one side is the Bard Kugel Patch, which is constructed of a double layer of monofilament polypropylene. These two layers create a positioning pocket, which is used to guide the patch into the proper position. On the other side is a barrier of ePTFE. The patch also contains a patent-protected "memory recoil ring," which causes the patch to spring open and maintain its shape during placement.
This construction gives the Bard Composix Kugel Hernia Patch many advantages over other ventral meshes on the market. First, because the "memory recoil ring" causes the patch to spring into place, and lie flat, placement of the prosthesis is much simpler, and fewer sutures are required to secure it. Second, the monofilament polypropylene stimulates tissue ingrowth and helps reduce the risk of recurrence. Finally, the ePTFE barrier minimizes tissue attachment to the prosthesis, while helping to protect against erosion of the mesh into vital organs.
Bard Composix Kugel Hernia Patch provides a prosthesis with the best of both worlds for ventral hernia repair: prompt tissue ingrowth and minimal adhesion to the prosthesis.
The Bard Composix Kugel Hernia Patch is the first self-expanding patch designed to address both sides of ventral hernia repair. By combining two clinically-proven materials, you get the benefits of monofilament polypropylene on one side, and expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) on the other.
