 | | Product Description | |
VACOPED is a revolutionary cast replacement system for the treatment of injuries of the lower leg and foot.
A self-adjusting vacuum cushion conforms to the patient's anatomy and in conjunction with a rigid lattice frame provides cast-like stabilization. As the general time of fracture or rupture healing can not be influenced, the circumstances of treatment can be altered significantly. Excessive stiffness of the ankle joint as well as excessive muscular atrophy can be avoided due to the fact that immediate access to the patient's lower leg can be made available, e.g. for physiotherapy. (Please refer to "Studies" where the results of a clinical comparison between cast and VACOPED can be found [U. Stoeckle, et al: Cast Immobilization or Vacuum Stabilizing System?])
VACOPED is a modular system and allows for treating injuries with only one product. VACOPED can be used as a pre- or postoperative splint, a cast replacement and /or a functional orthosis. Utilizing adapters, the VACOPED system allows for fixation of the ankle joint in different positions. Also, to advance therapy options, a range-of-motion mode can be chosen.
The process of having the vacuum cushion molded to the patient's lower leg and foot can be repeated as often as necessary. This can be done by either clinical personnel or the patient according to the physician's recommendation. In order to avoid unwanted access to the lower leg and foot, VACOPED can be locked against opening. Therefore, security seals can be applied.
The vacuum cushion is covered with a terrycloth liner, which can easily be exchanged and washed. The wide-ranging functionality of the VACOPED system promotes therapeutic success and advances patient comfort combined with optimal safety. | |
