| The controlled-release nitrofurazone Foley catheter, RELEASE-NF, is not a standard Foley. This latex-free catheter is the first and only Foley that works as a drug delivery system. When placed in a patient, the RELEASE-NF catheter delivers the drug nitrofurazone into the entire surrounding aqueous environment of the urethral tract. Unlike coated catheters, which only prevent colonization of the catheter surface, the science of controlled-release also delivers medication directly to the tissues of the urethral tract.
