| Designed to stabilize the capsular bag in cases of damaged or missing zonules. The Cionni CTR is specially designed for scleral fixation with suture. Robert J. Cionni, M.D. of the Cincinnati Eye Institute, recognized from his early experience using the standard Morcher CTR, that there was a need for greater stability when confronted with a zonular dehiscence greater than 135°. The three capsular tension rings (CTRs) he designed have been called Cionni variations (1L, 2L, 2C).
