Features		Unlike pre-formed valves which require a structure to hold the valve in place, the commissures of the ATS 3f® Aortic Bioprosthesis are attached directly to the native aortic wall by single stitches, allowing the bioprosthesis to be implanted with a line of sutures at the proximal end. The bioprosthesis is assembled in a tubular shape fabricated from three equal leaflets whose sides approximate when exposed to external pressure. The ATS 3f Aortic Bioprosthesis is made from equine pericardium, which is thin, strong, pliable and treated with zero pressure fixation for optimal tissue collagen preservation.

Manufacturing a valve to look like a biological valve seemed counterintuitive to Dr. James L. Cox. Therefore, in 1995 he set out to develop a valve that would mimic the way native valves are formed in utero. The result: The ATS 3f® Aortic Bioprosthesis. Unlike pre-formed valves on the market today, the ATS 3f Aortic Bioprosthesis is cylindrical at implant and facilitates the natural formation of the valve in vivo, allowing naturally occurring forces to determine its shape and function. It is the only bioprosthesis that takes shape in vivo and mimics a native valve in form and function.
