| GeminiI™ is truly a 2nd generation system, offering an open design that allows patients to see outside of the scanner during the procedure. As with open MRI systems, this design significantly improves acceptance, in particular for ill or claustrophobic patients. The open design provides the medical staff with full access to the patient at any time. Additionally, Gemini allows the user to separate the components and use the PET and CT as stand-alone systems. This is the only system in the world that offers such a high level of imaging flexibility. Gemini combines the Philips-ADAC Allegro™ GSO PET system and the Philips MX8000 D multislice CT scanner. The integration of the anatomical data from the CT with the metabolic data from the PET gives clinicians visual information to define the severity, as well as the extent, of the disease. | |
