Professional Societies
The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons
The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American Board of Surgery
The American Board of Surgery (ABS) is an independent, non-profit organization founded in 1937 for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge. Surgeons certified by the ABS, known as diplomates, have completed a minimum of five years of surgical training and successfully completed a written and oral examination process. The ABS currently certifies surgeons in the following fields: general surgery, pediatric surgery, vascular surgery, surgical critical care, and surgery of the hand.
The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons is a medical specialty society comprised of more than 6,000 physician members. American Society of Clinical Oncology

American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons
The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) is the premier society for colon and rectal surgeons and other surgeons dedicated to advancing and promoting the science and practice of the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the colon, rectum and anus. More than 1,000 ASCRS members are certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Western Thoracic Surgical Association
he WTSA associates persons in the western United States and Canada who desire to advance the quality and practice of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery as a specialty; encourages research and study of thoracic and cardiovascular functions and disorders so as to increase knowledge and improve treatment; and holds scientific meetings for the presentation and discussion of topics of interest to thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons and to encourage publication to these proceedings.
Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons
The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons is the most prestigious, exclusive, and oldest medical institution in the world. The British started the first Royal College in the year 1645, and admitted the most famous doctors, who in turn, trained selected but few other physicians, and honored them with distinct titles signifying membership in the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), as well as the College of Surgeons (MRCS etc...).

After several years of experience, following the MRCP or MRCS award, physicians were selected (not upon their own initiation or application) by the College for further screening and evaluation of their background. They were then bestowed with the honor of becoming a Fellow (FRCP; FRCS), the highest ranks any physician could expect to achieve in their lifetime. The esteemed Royal College consists of an exclusive and honorable group of distinguished, eminent practitioners of medicine and surgery around the world.

American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery

Gastroenterology

The Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS) is a monthly journal publishing peer-reviewed original contributions on all aspects of surgery. These contributions include, but are not limited to, original clinical studies, review articles, and experimental investigations with clear clinical relevance. In general, case reports are not considered for publication. As the official scientific journal of the American College of Surgeons, JACS has the goal of providing its readership the highest quality rapid retrieval of information relevant to surgeons.
The Lancet
THE LANCET is committed to making educational resources accessible to clinicians in resource-poor countries. So the electronic research archive in international health enables authors to self-archive research relevant to medicine in the developing world, with subsequent comments on the research posted alongside. All papers published in the journal are rigorously peer-reviewed, both qualitatively and statistically. But some topics benefit from more wide-ranging comment before publication. To ensure these papers receive the extra review they deserve we will post them on the e-print server.
European Journal of Cardio-thoracic Surgery
